Transcription Estimates

IMPORTANT: Clients please read the following instructions carefully as any audio tapes received that cannot be clearly heard may incur an additional fee. Please advise the Manager of the quality of recording when requesting an estimate.

Transcription Fees

Transcription times are different from actual digital audio tape time. For example, most people speak between 250 to 350 words per minute. Therefore, if your digital tape is 1 hour long, it may take between 6-7 hours to transcribe depending upon the quality of the tape, the type of transcription required, i.e., timecoded, tables, Word or Excel, etc. We offer competitive rates and can provide a Time Stamp Report upon completion. Please see our FAQ for further information.

Clear Recordings

These will be charged at our standard rate as per our Rates Schedule.

Recordings with Background Noise

An extra fee may apply for any recordings received with background noise as the transcriptionist may have to listen to the recording several times.

Recordings with Unclear Enunciation

Recordings received that are unclear due to poor enunciation, or the author holding the microphone too far from the mouth or swinging the microphone around, may incur an additional fee as the transcriptionist will have to contact the author to find out what was dictated.

Outside Recordings

Outside recordings that have traffic or other background noise such as wind, maintenance, construction, cafe noise, may take additional time and therefore may incur an extra fee.

Echos

Recordings received that have been conducted in a large hall or conference room that have a constant echo may take additional time and therefore could incur an extra fee.

Deadlines

We are happy to discuss your deadlines. We offer a 24-hour turnaround service, depending on the length and number of recordings. If you require a file transcribed and delivered prior to a scheduled deadline, an extra fee will apply. All fees are outlined in our Rates Schedule.
